Anger in quiet street as workman spotted urinating on family's driveway

Disgusted residents have hit out after a contract worker was filmed urinating on a driveway in a usually "quiet" street.

A beady-eyed residents spotted the EC Surfacing Ltd worker appearing to relieve himself on Thursday, March 10, at 1.10pm, behind the van which had been parked on a local's driveway.

Now, EC Surfacings Ltd, a company which provides road surfacing and planning for local authorities such as Sheffield City Council, North Lincolnshire Council and Hull City Council, is investigating, reports Hull Live.

The firm has apologised and has said it intends to discipline the worker, following the incident which happened as they worked on a road in Scunthorpe.

The video, which has been posted on social media and shared, has shocked residents.

Louise Andrew, 43, said: "I'm horrified by what this man has done. We live on a quiet street and I couldn't believe someone could do this. Has he not been potty trained to use a toilet like everyone else?

"It's disgusting that he would do that in the first place."

Rajidapa Singh, 52, said: "This is just dirty. Does this man have any shame? I wouldn't urinate in public because I was brought up with manners and values. Do they not have portable toilets to use?"

In the video, his colleagues are working in a nearby street and the workman can be seen emerging from behind the van appearing to do up his trousers. The van later moves off to reveal a puddle of urine streaming down the driveway.

But not everyone was as unforgiving.

Connor Abbett, 29, said: "Give the guy a break. He must have been desperate to have a wee so that's where he did his business.

"Those guys have to work long hours and I can't see any toilets available from that video. I've been there myself when I've needed to go so badly that I might burst and gone behind a tree.

"Maybe I agree that he shouldn't have done it by someone's garage.

"I think the best bit is when you can see the mark where he's had a wee on the floor after the tipper leaves.

"No doubting he's done what he did."

A spokesperson for EC Surfacing Ltd said: “We would like to offer our sincere apologies for the lack of care and general decency shown by one of our employees.

"The behaviour falls well below the standards we demand of our employees; we are sorry that this has happened.

"We will ensure appropriate disciplinary action will be taken and have since sent a mechanical road sweeper with a high-powered jet wash to clean the entire area.

"We will also further reinforce, company-wide, the importance of maintaining appropriate behaviour at all times.

"We have worked in North Lincolnshire for the last decade surfacing thousands of miles of road and paths and take very seriously our responsibly to the communities in the area which comes with that.

"We would like to apologise to the residents of Searby Road, particularly the family whose driveway it was, and to North Lincolnshire Council. This will not happen again."
