Horrified mum realises her toddler has been cleaning the loo with her toothbrush

A mum-of-two got a nasty surprise when she walked into her own bathroom – to find her son cleaning the toilet with her toothbrush.

Nicola Stitt, stumbled upon her cute two-year-old son Ayden playing cleaner after his big brother, Dylan, 14, walked in on him first and couldn't believe what he was seeing.

The teenager called for his mum who realised the pink and white toothbrush little Ayden was using to scrub the toilet was hers.

Despite her initial horror, she saw the funny side and took her phone out to record her cleaning boy in action, posting the video on the Facebook group Family lockdown tips and ideas.

Nicola, 31, from Dumfriesshire, Scotland, told the Daily Mirror: “My eldest son, Dylan, had found him and shouted me through and I couldn’t help but laugh – which was a big mistake as after purchasing a new one I caught him doing it again.”

In the Facebook video, blonde, curly-haired Ayden can be seen smiling happily as he swirls the toothbrush around the inside of the toilet bowl and under the seat, completely ignorant of his mum’s shock. Beneath it Nicola wrote the simple caption: 'Just my 2 year old cleaning the toilet with my toothbrush.'

The video received hundreds of likes from other parents, some of whom had obviously experienced similar themselves.

Claire Woolley wrote: ‘My daughter done (sic) this to me when she was the same age however I didn’t realise until I started brushing my teeth and realised my mouth tasted of a strong lime flavour…it was only then I seen (sic) the Duck toilet gel smeared over the toilet bowl.’

Another mum stated: 'Found our daughter painting the walls with the toilet brush when she was a similar age,’ while a third Facebook user joked: 'An electric one might be better.’

'Ugh, I wonder how many times he's done this before,' commented another user, while another quipped: “He looks way too confident...

"I feel like this isn’t the first time and you’ve had toilet water in your mouth.”

Nicola said she did keep all of the family toothbrushes high up on a shelf but explained that Ayden “is prone to climbing so I’ve had to move them into a drawer that he can’t get into.

“I just hope it was the first time he had done that with the toothbrush and the replacement one and not the first time he was caught.

“Ayden is so cheeky. He’s into everything he shouldn’t be!”
